The Benefits of Individual Health Insurance Plans
There can be quite a few benefits to buying individual health insurance.
You might think that because you don’t have access to a group plan that you are getting “the shaft.”I can tell you from experience, that this does not have to be the case.
First of all, if you heart is set on getting into a group plan, you might be eligible without getting a part-time job at Starbucks (a quick way to get into a group plan, FYI). Check to see if your university alumni group or other association that you are part of has a group health insurance plan because they often do. But just so you know, I have access to these plans but choose not to participate.
Why?
1) I can get it cheaper because I am in great health.
2) More flexibility in my plan choice. I get to tailor my individual insurance plan to my exact needs rather than fitting into the box of a group plan.
3) It’s mobile. If I leave the association or group, I still have coverage.
People will have you convinced that you need a group health insurance plan! They don’t know what they are talking about because they probably have never done the research on cheap medical insurance. At least look at your options first. You might be surprised that buying individual health insurance is the best option for you.
